July 7, 2020 by itsyouradmin Weddings 0 comments

We’re excited to bring you another amazing vendor this week – Treasured Heart Events! This team of planners have true hearts of gold and when you work with them, you’re helping the community too in a meaningful way – what’s better than that!?

Treasured Heart is a boutique wedding planning and management company changing the world for good! They offer services from event management all the way up to planning a weekend full of wedding events for you and your guests! From day one, they have donated 10% to missionary families and organizations that are making a positive impact on their community. Their goal is simple – to impact lives through meaningful moments – amazing!

Let’s chat with Ashlee, the boss, and learn more about this awesome team! Ashlee, how did you get started wedding planning?

Ashlee Nicholson, Owner

At the end of my freshman year at TCU, my sister graduated college, got engaged, and signed a contract to move to Dubai (yes, like opposite side of the planet). As we were dropping her off at the airport, she asked if I would plan her wedding for her! Even though I had no idea where to start, I eagerly said “yes”! Over the next 2 years, I interned for a wedding planner, learning the ins and outs of the industry. As my graduation approached, my boss informed me that they were relocating to California, but encouraged me to start my own business. The other track to my story is my first year of college is when I became a Christian. All through college I went on mission trips and fell in love with the families and organizations that I was able to work with. I knew that, one day, I would do something that would support those people! When the idea was presented to me to start my own business, I thought “why not combine my passion for weddings with my passion for Kingdom work?”, and in January 2016, Treasured Heart Events was born!

How big is yours team and how many weddings do you plan?

We have a team of 4 lead planners and each of us take on just one event per weekend to ensure a fully focused effort on each event!

How do you as planners stay so organized and calm under pressure?

Our hours of preparation, vendor confirmations & extensive list of questions prepare us for just about anything on wedding day! However, when the inevitable happens (like a candle catching the ceremony carpet on fire minutes before the bride walks down the aisle–which is exactly what happened to me at my very first wedding!), we roll with the punches and remember that we are the ones in charge! We bring our emergency kit with countless sewing kits, dress tape, every type of medicine & size of bandaid. We’re ready for anything that may surprise us on the big day.

As far as organization, we have an online system that allows all of our lead planners to have access to all of our couple’s documents at any point! If something were to happen to your lead planner, we have you covered with someone just as equipped and able to step in and take over.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

There is a moment for me at just about every reception when we are monitoring the dance floor where time seems to slow down. I will survey the crowd and see all the joyful faces and funky dance moves and feel so blessed that my job is to help curate those environments where people can gather and have a blast!

What are the trends for weddings this season?

I personally love a good monochromatic color scheme, but I am excited for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 weddings where we get to play with LOTS of color!

During these trying times of navigating wedding planning during this pandemic, what advice would you give to couples that are in the midst of planning?

Our biggest piece of advice is to remember WHY you are getting married–while yes, a beautiful and seamless party is so important, a beautiful and healthy MARRIAGE is why you said “yes” when they popped the question!

How can couples get in contact with you?

Email us or get in touch with us through our website contact form!

Thank you, Ashlee!
