We are always so blown away by the Lockharts’ work, so we wanted to hear from the Lockharts themselves! Check out what they have to say about their passion for wedding photography and film.
Can you give us a quick bio of who you are and what makes The Lockharts Photos & Films such a unique wedding vendor?
We are a husband and wife photo + video team that provides a fine art, editorial approach to both wedding day photography and videography. Our photography is film based, while our videos seemingly compliment this.
How and when did you get started in this business?
We started right after we were married in 2011. After not having the best photo experience for our wedding, and having a background in photography in college ourselves, we began documenting weddings for others. Our goal was to provide an exceptional experience as well as beautiful, timeless photos.
What is your favorite feature/fun fact about The Lockharts Photos & Films?
The fact that we shoot a combination of film and digital. We feel that this truly makes the photos look timeless.
What is your secret for staying calm under pressure when something doesn’t go as planned at a wedding?
Reminding ourselves that the experience is just as important as the photos. We will do all that is possible to make sure our clients feel calm by providing reassurance and showing that we are in control, even if things aren’t going as planned. A smile and some redirection goes a long way!
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part is having our couples rave about their photos/videos and remember precious memories with their loved ones.
Can you share a fun/funny/unique/memorable event/instance that has happened at an event?
Not a specific wedding, but you may often find Michelle with a veil around her neck during portraits (haha). Sometimes when no one is around to hold the bride’s veil, and she wants photos without it, making it a scarf is the most efficient!
What trends are you seeing and loving right now in the industry?
We are loving the flash film look during the reception. It is definitely fun and helps push our creativity.
If you could give your couples just 1 important piece of advice while planning, what would that be?
Communicate everything beforehand! This will help your vendors have a clear understanding of everything you are wanting and make note of it during your day. While most of us do many weddings each year, each couple is different and may have a slightly different vision.
What do you like to do for fun when not working?
Traveling! You can find us in a plane exploring a different place any time we are not in a wedding.
What is the best way to get in touch with you?
Email is best at hello@thelockharts.co!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us or potential clients?
Being a married couple ourselves helps ease our couples nerves and makes it like a fun double date! It is also so helpful to be able to showcase poses to our couples.
