We’re kicking off 2022 with a spotlight on a venue that we love and whose team does an amazing job at giving back to their community! Nestled in the middle of Keller, Texas lies The Bowden, an elegant venue with a private pond and patio, and extensive ballroom space. What makes The Bowden stand out? We sat down with Kelly, the Director of Sales and Marketing, to answer some questions!
Can you give us a quick bio of who you are, and how you became connected to The Bowden?
My name is Kelly Williams and I am the Director of Sales and Marketing at The Bowden. I have been in the Hospitality industry for over 24 years, starting in the restaurant business in high school and continuing my career out of college in the hotel business as a catering manager. In 2020, I was blessed with the opportunity to join the team at The Bowden!
What do you like to do for fun when not working?
As a parent of three younger kids, my husband and I’s spare time is usually chauffeuring them to various sports or church activities. Otherwise, I love spending time with my neighborhood friends and participating in my church choir!
What makes The Bowden such a unique venue? What is your favorite feature or fun fact about your business?
The Bowden is one of the largest stand-alone ballrooms in the area and can hold up to 500 people. Its timeless, classy feel is perfect for all types of events! Our business is named after the founders, The Bowdens, and the proceeds go toward the Greater Keller Women’s Club Foundation to be utilized for high school senior scholarships.
What is your secret for staying calm under pressure, and for putting your clients at ease?
Knowing how great my staff works under pressure gives me the assurance that we have what it takes to counteract anything that may come along. The experience and expertise between all of us help us to ensure the clients that we will make sure their event is flawless!
This is an exciting industry, for sure! Can you tell us one of your favorite events and what made it so special for you?
It’s hard to pick just one! I love events that have themes or exciting entertainment. We have hosted animal rescues, roaring 20’s fashion show luncheons, and 80’s pop stars – and it just gets better as people’s imaginations grow!
The trends in our industry are constantly changing. What trends are you seeing right now, and how do you stay on top of them with your clients?
The trend I’m enjoying is the different ways of doing the seating charts. We have seen etched glass blocks, champagne flutes, flowers on the wall, and more! We stay on top of the trends by educating ourselves with everything we do. We are a part of various magazines such as Brides of North Texas, The Knot, The Special Event, and Catering\Source. The best way to stay on top of it all is by networking with fellow vendors!
What is your #1 piece of advice for a couple when it comes to picking out a venue for their wedding?
Find a place that will be all-inclusive for you without much work to make it beautiful, like The Bowden! The last thing you need is to be nickel-and-dimed at the very end of your event and having to contact 20 vendors to organize everything. When you add up all the small costs of an a la carte venue vs. an all-inclusive venue, you will see that although the all-inclusive venue is a little bit more, it will be worth it in the long run to have one place doing everything for you.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with potential clients?
The Bowden has a team of people who love what we do and where we work! Because of this, we put 120% into making sure your event is the best that it can be and all that you have envisioned for it!
