1. Make a budget, but don’t be surprised if you go over it!
We know, we know – you have already mapped out every detail of your wedding budget and where each dollar is going to go from sparklers to your wedding shoes. However, the thing about unexpected expenses is that they are, well – unexpected. Your florist may come to you with a few more centerpiece options that raise the price but that are absolutely to die for. It is possible that once all your RSVP’s return, you have more confirmations than you thought – Which means 1. YAY, Party! 2. We need more food!
There are so many unexpected things that can come up while wedding planning, our point here is – don’t stress out about it, but there is a way to be prepared. Leave some margin in your budget for the unseen, unplanned things that may happen. Who knows, if you end up coming under budget in the end, that means more money for the honeymoon! Woohoo!
2. Have a backup weather plan
Honestly, we have yet to meet a bride who didn’t fear rain or storms on her wedding day. We also have yet to meet a bride who was able to do anything about the forecast! Here’s the point – you can’t control the weather on your wedding day and it’s okay! Your guests are not coming to enjoy the sunshine, they are coming to witness your love and celebrate you! Having a backup plan for weather or other “worst-case scenarios” always ends up easing your mind and alleviating what could be a stressful situation.
3. Wedding DJs can make or break your reception
Have you ever been to a wedding where the volume is so loud, that you aren’t able to have a conversation at dinner? Or have you ever been to a wedding where the DJ is hyping himself up over the mic, instead of the bride and groom? You’ve worked so hard for many months planning this perfect evening and spending top dollar to make this night beautiful – you don’t want your entertainment to ruin the night. We firmly believe that a great DJ and MC can either make or break your reception. We want you to feel confident that whoever is holding a microphone on your wedding day is someone that you can trust! Our team at It’s Your Night are experienced & professional DJs that aren’t going to embarrass you or take the night to promote ourselves. We may be biased, but we truly do believe this is the number one most important thing in planning your reception!
4. Book an amazing & talented planner
While we strongly believe that entertainment is the quarterback of your wedding, the planner is the coach. Having someone who you trust to take your vision and put it into action is gold when it comes to wedding planning. For example, you’ve found your dream photographer on Instagram, love the color purple, and want gold accents in a unique venue in Fort Worth, but who can take all of that, attend the meetings, preview the contracts and book it to make it all happen? Your planner! They are the pros and will take your dreams and put them into gorgeous plans!
5. Have fun!
At the end of the day, you are planning your wedding – not just an amazing party for everyone to gather. Remember to enjoy each moment. Look your friends and family in the eyes during the hustle and bustle of getting everything ready. Stop and literally smell your wedding bouquet! Soak in every moment and create memories that last longer than the sparklers during your exit. Wedding planning can be stressful but if you find yourself getting too caught up in it all, take a step back and remind yourself what your wedding is really about – you marrying the love of your life!
